On antibiotics for 2 months

If you glance at the picture on the left, this is what happened to my skin after I got off birth control. Before I got on the birth control pill, I never had any skin issues. But after getting off of “the pill” everything changed. I honestly couldn’t even recognize myself.

Naturally, I went to the dermatologist. I obsessively researched and found that I had something called “perioral dermatitis” which was quite common after getting off of hormonal birth control. However, the dermatologist thought I had acne and told me I needed to be put on antibiotics. I agreed because I would have done almost anything to get my skin back to normal!

A month later, no change! The dermatologist told me to try again for another month. A month later, and STILL NO CHANGE. It was only getting worse! Not only was this affecting my skin but my mental, emotional, and gut health as well.

After they suggested I try Acutane, I refused and decided to take matters into my own hands and put all my nutrition knowledge to good use. I started to eat cleaner, spend more time in the sun, and take control of my health and most importantly take herbs. I started to dive into the world of herbal medicine and took herbs to cleanse my liver of estrogen dominance (as this was the REAL reason why my face went crazy). After a month of taking herbs, viola! I started getting REAL results and my skin finally cleared up. By May, the inflammation had significantly decreased and it honestly felt like a miracle. From that point on, I fell in love with herbs and had to learn more.

Bottom line, the herbs gave me the results I had so desperately been searching for, and that’s why I got my Masters in Herbal Medicine, so I can help support others who are struggling with their health (mental and physical), in the same way I did.
